Wettbewerbsaufgabe
MK:U ist bestrebt, ein herausragendes integriertes multidisziplinäres Team für den Entwurf einer beispielhaften neuen Universität in Milton Keynes zu benennen.

MK:U wird einen ehrgeizigen, innovativen Lehrplan anbieten, der sich auf die für die digitale Wirtschaft erforderlichen Fähigkeiten konzentriert und durch praktische, geschäftsorientierte Ausbildung mit Schwerpunkt auf erfahrungsorientiertem Lernen vermittelt wird, das flexible und zugängliche Bildungsangebote bietet.

Zu den Bildungsangeboten gehören Robotik und künstliche Intelligenz, Digital und Cyber sowie Entrepreneurship, Business und Design Thinking. Zu den besonderen Angeboten der Universität gehören beschleunigte 2-jährige Studiengänge, intensive 3-jährige Abschlüsse mit Projektpraktika, Teilzeit-/Ausbildungswege und kurze Kurse/fortgesetzte berufliche Entwicklung.

MK:U wird ein 24-Stunden-Viertel des Stadtzentrums sein und die öffentlichen Räume von Milton Keynes beleben. Der Gesamtbauwert für Phase eins (ohne Mehrwertsteuer, aber einschließlich Gebühren) wird auf 188 000 000 000 GBP geschätzt.

The procurement is a 2 stage competition run under the Restricted Procedure. At stage one of the competition, MK:U is seeking creative multidisciplinary teams organised under a lead consultant (who is an architect) and including expertise in architecture, urban design/masterplanning, landscape design, structural engineering, civil/utilities engineering and MEP (services) engineering. Internationally-based teams will also be required to propose a UK-based executive architect.
At the first stage of the competition, 5 competitors will be shortlisted on the basis of the selection criteria set out in the Search Statement.
At stage 2, teams will be required to propose additional consultancy including Principal Designer, BIM lead, sustainability/BREEAM, lift/vertical transportation, fire engineer, acoustic engineer, façade engineer, interior designer, IT/AV consultant, catering consultant, access consultant, security consultant and highways consultant.
These additional consultants will be assessed at stage 2 on quality and integration into the design team, including the requirement to pass minimum qualification standards.
The subject of this procurement process is the contract for full design services for Phase 1 of MK:U, as well as masterplanning services.
