Wettbewerbsaufgabe
The competition included three free city sites, connected to the life of the Jewish community prior to the second World War, and its extermination in the Holocaust. The „Synagogue Square“ sub-competition includes what was once the heart of the medieval Jewish quarter. The „Besojlem Memorial Park“ sub-competition pertains to part of the old Jewish cemetery. The „Yaniv Concentration Camp Memorial Park“ pertains to part of the territory of the former Yaniv Concentration Camp, known as „the valley of death“. The chief objective of the competition is to promote awareness of Lviv‘s multiethnic past by rediscovering and displaying the Jewish heritage of the city.
