Verfahrensart
Zweiphasiger, offener Wettbewerb
Finalisten
Standort Horton-in-Ribblesdale:
McGinlay Bell, Glasgow
McMullan Studio, London
Patalab Architecture, London
Standort Burneside:
Hawkins Brown, Manchester
Outpost, London mit Giles Miller Studio, London
Weston Williamson + Partners, London
Wettbewerbsaufgabe
Competition assignment
The competition looked to attract architects from around the world who could bring new innovative thinking to flexible housing which will appeal to young people and draw them to the area.
Although the GPLD area economy is relatively strong, like many rural areas it suffers from an outward migration of young people. Specifically, the GPLD area has 44% fewer 16-34-year olds than the national average, which raises significant concerns regarding its future economic and community resilience.
The Great Places Lakes and Dales Partnership (GPLD) sought concept designs for the sites Horton-in-Ribblesdale and Burneside within the GPLD area. Competitors were invited to submit proposals for one of the two sites or for both locations.

The RIBA Competitions evaluation panel includes Sasha Bhavan of KnoxBhavan Architects as the RIBA Adviser, Wayne Hemingway of Hemingway Design and Nathan Cornish of Urban Splash.
The initial phase of the competition requires teams to submit designs anonymously, in digital format only. Up to 6 concept designs (3 for each site) will then be shortlisted for further development at the second phase. Each shortlisted designer will receive an honorarium of £4,000 + VAT.
