Copenhageners have long wished for a new foot and cycle bridge to connect the city districts on either side of Inderhavnen (the Inner Harbour). A donation from the AP Möller and Chastine Mc-Kinney Möller Foundation made it possible for the City of Copenhagen to launch a competition for the design of the following openable foot and cycle bridges.
– A bridge across Inderhavnen that connects the southern side of Nyhavn with Grönlandske Handels Plads.
– Abridge lind across Christanshavns Kanal and Trangraven, running from Grönlandske Handels Plads across Islands Plats to Arenalöen.
– A bridge across Proviantmagasingraven that connects the promenades on Asenalöen and Federiskholm.
The new link between Nyhavn, Christanshavn, Holmn and Amager will create better coherence between city and harbour, just as it will create new safe, secure and attractivecycle routes.
The design competition was divided into two parts: one for the design of the bridge across Inderhavnen and one for the design of the link across Christianshavns Kanal and Trangraven and the bridge across Proviantmagasingraven.
