Wettbewerbsaufgabe
The subject of the competition is making the design of the reconstruction and of the interior of the building at UPrůhonu 1338/38 for the seat of the Municipal Office of Prague 7 district. The competition is looking for an answer to the question of how the town hall should look like in the 21st century: how to use the existing structure to build a house that is representative, user-friendly and above all able to grow old and to maintain its dignity for 50 years or more.
The district of Prague 7 is ready to invest 150 million CZK (without VAT ) in the reconstruction of the building, including all technologies. The proposal must respect the date of moving of the office in a renovated building – winter 2018, and therefore avoid the need for developing and negotiating documentation for zoning permission. This means that the only possible extension of an existing volume is balconies. The existing building does not meet today‘s requirements for energy efficiency. Its reconstruction should include complete rethinking of the building envelope and all the technology and should lead to a durable house in the highest energy class with reasonable operating costs of technology.
