Place&Theme
The Valle d‘Itria is a place that stretches between Bari, Brindisi and Taranto and is characterized by the strong naturalistic scenarios that identify the provinces between them. We will visit three places -Alberobello, Monopoli, Ostuni- each one unique in its kind.
We will go to the discovery of Alberobello, known for the cone-shaped buildings of the old center, and then move towards Ostuni, known as the “white city”for the clear lime facades that draw the urban skyline. We will then immerse ourselves in the countryside of Monopoli, a few steps from the sea, in the characteristic scenery of Masseria Spina, rock dwelling dating back to the early Middle Ages, sacred hypogea and the Minor Church built in the eleventh century distinguish a place now become a tourist reference point for the whole area.
Among the spaces of the Sala delle Mangiatoie we will analyze a typical trullo construction: we will develop, simulating a written test as a professional qualification exam, recovery and extension projects to transform one of the traditional housing typologies of Valle d‘Itria into a housing for travelers‘ welcome. A debate in which tradition and innovation meet, an intent that makes architecture a vehicle for enhancing local historical identities.
