The Antipodes Competition Series invites architects and designers to explore the concept of duality by creating retreats in two markedly different environments: the remote wilderness of Antipodes Island and the bustling urban landscape of London.
Antipode #1 New Zealand Nature Retreat
Set in the extreme isolation of Antipodes Island, New Zealand, this competition invites architects and designers to explore architectural duality by designing a nature retreat in one of the world’s most remote locations.
Participants are challenged to create a sustainable, off-grid structure that harmonizes with the island’s harsh climate, fragile ecosystem, and rich biodiversity – a space for rest, research, or reflection.
