Student Design Competition 2021 – Library in Midtown Atlanta
Organizers
Cove.tool
www.covetool.tech
The Brief
The idea for this competition is very simple, cove.tool is on a mission to create the fastest and most robust and holistic building performance platform on the market.
Using the Drawing Tool or one of our 3rd party plugins (SketchUp, Rhino/Grasshopper, and Autodesk Revit) we ask participants to model a library on the corner of Peachtree Street NE and 6th Street NE in Atlanta, GA. Using climate report and 3D analysis, reduce energy use and carbon emissions while maintaining ideal levels of daylight.
The site is in a dense urban area in Midtown Atlanta and will pose many challenges with massing, orientation, and daylight access. Minimum project size requirement is 8,000 sqft (double the property lot size). Studio projects are welcomed, but response to context and climate will play a major role in the jury’s decision making. Submit one 20”x20” artboard demonstrating how performance analysis helped shape the design.
Participants
Everyone is invited to participate. As long as you are a student and/or a recent graduate (class of 2021)
Schedule
Submission deadline: July 30th, 2021
Prizes
3 Finalist‘s Prizes: $550 gift card & cove.tool swag
Finalists and Honorable Mentions: Will be featured in our marketing newsletter (seen by over 300k architects across the world!) All Submissions will be displayed on our website.
