About the Competition
TURN THE CHURCH INTO A MULTI-FAITH CENTER
Santa Maria di Settefonti stands on the hills south of Ozzano dell’Emilia, overlooking the Idice valley and surrounded by the natural beauty of the Gessi Bolognesi and Calanchi dell’Abbadessa Park. Once part of a medieval fortified settlement, the church was rebuilt in 1691 on Romanesque foundations and later damaged during World War II. Today, only the façade and bell tower remain.
Following the recent initiative by the local community to establish an interreligious cemetery nearby, participants in this competition are invited to reinterpret the site as a multi-faith center, a place for reflection, dialogue, and spiritual encounter, integrated into the surrounding historical and natural landscape along the ancient Via Flaminia Minor
