Competition for the execution of the interior Design of the Permanent Design Gallery in the former Cracovia Hotel building
Organizers
The Competition is organised by the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków – Faculty of Interior Design, Humberta 3, 31-121 Kraków.
Competition Assignment
The project task is to create a conceptual design for art and design space in the interior of the former Cracovia Hotel.
The aim of the Competition is to select the best design concepts in terms of visual, functional, technological and substantive qualities.
Competition objectives:
1. Theoretical formulation of a design thesis for a multifunctional creative space intended for art and design, combined with a functional and technologically refined design solution that will become the spatial justification of the thesis.
2. An attempt to create a new definition of art and design in the context of establishing new functions for space that is to serve designers, artists, art and design, in the form of a spatial reflection on how to talk about the history of art and design these days, and how to create places for artists and designers.
3. A look at the function and technology through the lens of art in both design and ideological spaces – we encourage the participants to create their own juxtapositions and shift the weights of meaning between the key concepts of the 7th biennial – design, art, function, knowledge, technology.
Eligibility
The Competition is open to any adult student of the faculties of Interior Design, Industrial Design, Architecture and other related disciplines at any public and private design and architecture universities in Poland and abroad.
