In highland areas and cities near the poles, winter tourism, more than a necessity, is presented as an alternative that is related to a human search for strong emotions and adventures in a natural environment. It usually focuses on the practice of sports in the snow and cold or simply the fact of relaxing and enjoying spectacular views of the snowy landscape. In view of this, the aim is to satisfy these needs with a project that offers shelter, security and contemplation, before continuing on the path to adventure.

 

The ALPINE REFUGE will be designed as a mountain refuge for all those athletes or simply travelers who need a comfortable or contemplative space to rest before continuing their journey to the Swiss Alps. It will feature lodging, a nursing station, a coffe shop, and a high viewpoint, making it a perfect stop for rest and contemplation. Its strategic location will serve as a connection between the Hospice and the Julen Theater located in the area. Its mere presence will become a landmark along the route. It should be designed as a structure that can withstand the effects of time and is easy to maintain. The design should be integrated into the context, be low-impact, and prioritize the natural landscape at all times.
