The built area of the facility is estimated to be approximately 25,000 m2 in programmed space plus two levels of underground parking. A detailed program will be available in the Stage 2 design brief for shortlisted firms. It is expected that this building will meet or exceed the USGBC standards for LEED GOLD or similar. It is the intention of CCB to have the CICB built, and operational in May of 2014.
This is an international, two (2)-stage design competition. The two stages are:
Stage 1- Request for Qualifications (RFQ)
Interested architecture firms are welcome to submit qualifications and portfolios of accomplishment that establish the design capability and experience of the firm. Following portfolio and qualifications evaluation, no more than five (5) firms will be invited to participate in Stage 2, a juried design competition.
Stage 2 - Invited design competition with an honorarium
Stage 2 is by invitation only. The selected teams will be given a detailed program and seven (7) weeks to prepare a vision and concept for the project. An honorarium will be paid to each firm. The winning firm has the right to subscribe a design contract with the CCB. Competitors will be requested to produce 4 A0 size boards plus a 1:500 (metric) general massing model to be inserted in an overall context model furnished by the sponsor at the time of the interview. Details of deliverables will be part of the Design Brief to be released to selected firms at the start of Stage 2.
