Wettbewerbsaufgabe / Competition Task
A highly anticipated project on the architecture and design calendar, RIBA Regent Street Windows returns for its eight year, but this time with the added excitement of the opportunity being open to all RIBA Chartered Practices and Members nationally and internationally.

The RIBA Regent Street Windows Project pairs exceptional RIBA architects with Regent Street retailers to create captivating architectural installations in store windows along and around London’s historic shopping street.

THE CALL
Delivered in partnership with the Crown Estate, the internationally renowned project has grown in strength year-on-year. The programme timing has changed from previous years and this time will see the installations on display from Monday 23 April for a period of between three to four weeks.

This is a unique opportunity for RIBA Chartered Practices and Members to demonstrate the innovative ways in which they work while allowing for a direct interaction with London’s public and visitors on its most iconic retail destination, attracting a footfall of over 1.2million people per week.

The project is open to all RIBA Chartered Members and RIBA Chartered Practices internationally. Please note that if the practice is based outside of the UK, it must be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver from within the UK.

Termine / Schedule
Competition launched – 03 November 2017
Deadline date for expression of interest –  28 November 2017 by 14.00 hrs
Announcement of selected architects – w/c 08 January 2018
Development of design concepts – w/c 08 January 2018 to 21 April 2018
Overnight installation – Sunday 22 April 2018
Official launch of the Windows – Monday 23 April 2018

Preise / Prizes
This is primarily intended to be a publicity and marketing benefit for the selected practices, however an honoraria of £500 +VAT is payable to each practice. In addition, significant efforts are made by all stakeholders of the project to ensure wide media coverage and the project has proved to be a useful business tool for many practices who have participated. Previous editions of the project have also seen a continued and rewarding relationship between various retailers and architects.
