Competition assignment
The competition brief is straightforward; to design a monument, architectural structure, piece of public art or new programme that discusses the themes described in this specificurban territory and question the function of a monument in 2020. Responses could imagine what the old idea of a ‘gate’ or ‘border’ could provide today.
Eligibility
The ‘Future Monuments’ competition is an open architectural and urban competition that questions the site in terms of usages, programs, forms, symbolic and narrative. Architects, students of architecture or associated disciplines, designers and artists may enter.
How to enter
Entry to the competition costs €28.50
You will be provided with the following:
- Images of the site
- A drawing of the site (DWG)
- The Brief (PDF)
- A template for the submission board (PDF)
Presentation requirements
- 1 x A1 JPEG (841mm x 594mm, landscape or portrait) @ 300 dpi.
- Project Title on top left corner of the A1 board.
- At least 1x visualisation expressing the design intention of the entry, up to 4 images. (see template system)
- An explanatory text of no more than 400 words.
Please do not include the following:
- A contact name or email address on the board
Schedule
Competition Launch Question and Answer Period: 6th September – 19th October 2019
Q&A Published: 29th October 2019
Submission Deadline: 22th November 12pm (Midday) CET (Paris Time)
Prizes
The winning entry will receive an honorarium of €500 which may be used towards their travel and accommodation during their stay in Paris for the exhibition.
