Parkitecture is an International Design Contest created by World Urban Parks, which aims to be a worldwide celebration of innovation and creativity. Parkitecture designs submitted may be landscape, architecture, products, or art, hence we present an Open Design Contest to inspire and welcome the widest pool of global talent and excellence.

 

The world is engulfed in uncertainty with issues including climate change, post-pandemic recovery, wars threatening global food security and humanitarian crises, phenomenal technological advancements and economic complexities. Interwoven with this backdrop, urban park spaces worldwide have proven to be valuable and essential places for grounding people’s wellbeing, whether for physical, psychological or spiritual benefits. 

 

World Urban Parks is a global movement striving to extend and ensure inclusive, equitable and dignified spaces for all within a holistic, adaptable and responsive ecosystem perspective. We now wish to place centerstage on our agenda, creative opportunities to address thesechallenges as opportunities now for the best creative talent to inspire new narratives for potential positive social and nature interactions for ‘emerging’ communities and support their resilient and sustainable nature-culture trajectories into the future with a ‘Joie de Vivre’.

 

The contest is open to professionals and studentsfrom the disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, design, and any related field, of legal age from every country in the world.

 

Official Launch/ Open Registration: July 12

Submission window: July 22 to October 10

Evaluation Round 1: October 11 to November 10

Evaluation Round 2: November 11 to November 20

Announcement of the Winners: November 20

Award Ceremony at Parks Congress Mexico: November 24

Professional Category

• $25,000 USD in cash for the winner of the 1st Place (Round 2 – Professional Category)

• $10,000 USD in cash for the winner of the 2nd Place (Round 2 – Professional Category)

• $5,000 USD in cash for the winner of the 3rd Place (Round 2 – Professional Category)

• $1,000 USD in cash for each winner who has earned a place from the 4th to the13th round finalists. (Round 2 – Professional Category)

 

Student Category 

• $1,000 USD in cash for the winner of the 1st Place (Round 2 – Student Category)

• $750 USD in cash for the winner of the 2nd Place (Round 2 – Student Category)

• $500 USD in cash for the winner of the 3rd Place (Round 2 – Student Category)
